Boston adopts policy to diversify development process.
August 11, 2022
Boston Planning and Development Agency board votes to ask developers of projects over 20,000 square feet to disclose how they will employ minorities and women and the companies they own. Boston becomes the first city in the U.S. to ask developers to vow to promote diversity and inclusion. The policy expands on a 2018 requirement that developers of city-owned land submit a diversity, equity and inclusion plan, and a 2020 measure under which the BPDA considers such plans in its formula for approving development proposals.
